Lohagad Fort also known as Iron Fort due to its strong and marvelous structure. Location : Located on Sahyadri Hills near Lonavala. Udhewadi is the base village of the fort. It is 16 km away from Lonavala and same from Karjat city.

  1. Lonavala route – Starting point is from Tungarli Dam in Lonavala to reach till the base you need to cross a mud road which will be challlenging and difficult in Monsoon (jeeps & buses preffered) avoid travel from bike or scooties. Difficulty level of this route is easy to moderate.
  2. Karjat Route via Kondhane Caves – Starting point of this route is from Kondhane village in karjat where you can explore Ancient Kondhane caves too if have enough time for exploration. Rajmachi Fort Timings : It is open at any hour of the day as there is no official entry gate, but we will suggest to avoid night trekking. Best time to start your trek is from 6am – 8am.

Rajmachi Fort Entry Fee :

  1. Entry is Free on this fort.
  2. Privte vehical parking is available at base village which will cost 50₹ -100₹ depending on the vehical size.
  3. Jeep ride option is available from Lonavala to the base Udhewadi village which will cost around ₹2,500–₹3,000 per jeep also you can bargain with your skills. Group is preffered for this mode of transport as it will be better to contribute rather than paying for single or two.

9. Peb Fort Trek Matheran :

Peb fort is located in Mountain ranges of Matheran Hill Station, It is also known as Vikatgad fort. The above point will be helpful to reach till matheran. You need to get down near the railway track before reaching at the top of matheran. Share Taxi are available from Nearl railway station to Matheran, ask them to drop at the starting point of the peb fort trek

Location : This fort is Neral of raigad district on Matheran mountain range. Anandwadi or Fanaswadi is the base village depending on your starting point.

Route to Trek :

  1. Anandwadi or Fanaswadi Route – Starting point is from anandwadi which is 2km from Nearl railway station. This trail will make you experience the dense forest, some iron ladders and narrow trails. Difficulty if this route is easy to moderate level.
  2. Matheran Route – Panaroma point or Kadyavarcha Ganpati view point is the starting point. It will take 3 – 4 hours from this route with some scenic beauty and panaromic view of the mountain range. Difficulty level is moderate on this route.

Peb Fort Timings : There is no official entry gate for this for so it is open 24*7, Early morning 6am to 10 am will be the best time to start your trek. Avoid night trek as the trails are narrow beside a deep valley.

Peb Fort Entry Fee : Entry is free as no official entry gate or check point we can see, But you need to pay for your personal vehical’s parking depending on the current rates.

10. Prabalgad Fort Trek :

Location : Located in between Matheran and Panvel and the nearest city is panvel in raigad district. Thakurwadi is the base village for this trek.

  1. Thakurwadi – From this point you can start your trek towards prabalmachi plateau and heads towards prabalgad. There is a steeper climb and the levelof difficulty is moderate.
  2. Kalavantin Durg Route – This routestarts from Prabalmachi plateau whereyou need to take left and move towards kalavantin durg trails, this route is maily used for the range trek of both the twin forts which starts from kalavantin durg and ends at prabalgad also some people move towards irshalgad from prabalgad as it also have a connected trail from prabalgad’s Kala Buruj.

Best Time to Visit : You can visit Prabalgad Fort during monsoon and winter where you will get the best views and lushy greenary surrounding also you can experience waterfalls in monsoon. Summer will be little bit challenging due to heat waves and humidity.

Prabalgad Fort Timings : The is no official entry gate for this fort so it is 24*7 available for visitors but avoid trekking at night as you can meet many poisonous specious of Snakes and Scorpions while trekking at night. Best time to start your trek is from 6am to 8am which will be safe and trails will be clearly visible also you will return safe at the base before evening.

Prabalgad Fort Entry Fee : As we have mentioned in the above point, there is no official entry gate so no worries of paying any money for entry, but only if you are travelling by your persnal vehical then you need to pay the parking fees at thakurwadi village which is the base and starting point of the fort.
