After Indian independence, The Rani baug byculla was named Veer Jijamata, the mother of Shivaji, the first Maratha emperor.
This park was Established in 1861, the Veer Jijamata Udyan was initially just a botanical garden named Victoria Gardens or Ranichi Baug (Queen’s Garden in Marathi) during the British rule.
